Estimated costs/benefits of 4 anthelmintic treatment strategies:


  • Strategy 1 = All animals are treated at calving.
  • Strategy 2 = All first-lactation animals are treated. Animals in their second or higher lactation are tested with milk Ostertagia ELISA and only the positive animals are treated.
  • Strategy 3 = All first-lactation animals are left untreated. Animals in their second or higher lactation are tested with milk Ostertagia ELISA and only the positive animals are treated.
  • Strategy 4 = All cows are treated around housing.
